TWU applies for historic improvements across cabin crew

In 2026 TWU members are taking the fight right to the top of the supply chain—and Amazon is one of the big culprits in the race to the bottom in road transport.

At the end of 2025, we joined forces with the SDA and MEAA to put a 10-point claim on Amazon to:

  • Pay fair wages
  • Pay its fair share of tax
  • Pay for the creative and media content used to train AI
  • Stop excessive worker surveillance
  • Use technology to create sustainable jobs that augment workers’ capacity rather than intensifying work
  • Create secure and sustainable jobs
  • Respect workers’ right to a voice at work through their unions
  • Improve practices before being rewarded with lucrative government contracts
  • Empower workers to speak up on safety rather than creating a culture of fear
  • Pay fair superannuation

March saw our latest action against retail behemoth Amazon with a National Day of Action. Hundreds of workers stood shoulder to shoulder at warehouses and offices across the country, calling out the appalling pay and working conditions behind one of the biggest drivers of the race to the bottom in road transport.

With the company’s incursion into grocery delivery through Harris Farm, and its “Delivery Service Partner” program, Amazon continues to use exploitative and ruthless methods to undercut competitors and drive down standards for workers, all while raking in record profits.

That’s why members also shone a spotlight on Amazon Flex at Harris Farm, as part of our National Council in May.

It’s time to put a stop to the Amazon Effect smashing transport.

We’ve made it clear to Amazon:

If they keep trying to deploy their U.S. style tactics to drag down good Australian jobs, the TWU will be there to take further action if neccessary.
