We need AviationKeeper

COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on aviation workers.

The aviation industry is in crisis. With the majority of flights still grounded due to COVID-19, it is clear that aviation will take longer to bounce back than other parts of the economy. In fact, it is unlikely that people will resume interstate and international travel at the pre-COVID-19 rates for some time.

Thousands of aviation workers are being denied JobKeeper, and in too many cases JobSeeker as well. This means many workers have been left with no income. When workers are receiving JobKeeper, it is often delayed, incorrectly issued and simply doesn’t cover our most basic bills like rent, mortgages, groceries and utilities.

The Government is planning its next steps for the economic recovery right now, and we need to take urgent action to ensure that they back Australian aviation workers.

Please add your name to the petition on this page to call on Scott Morrison to implement AviationKeeper so that when Australia is ready to fly, we are too.

Here’s how else you can help

  • Sign and share the petition on this page (share using this link: bit.ly/AviationKeeperPetition)
  • Post a photo of yourself with the pledge sign on social media using #AviationKeeper #SaveAviation
  • Post a short supporting video on social media (guide below) using #AviationKeeper #SaveAviation

Here’s a guide to what you could say in your video:

I am supporting aviation workers and calling on the Federal Government to implement AviationKeeper to save this crucial industry and its workforce.

We need good aviation jobs with decent rates.

We need our well-trained, experienced workers ready to return Australia to the skies as soon as possible.

To do this, the Government needs to follow the lead of other countries and support aviation for as long as is needed.

Come on Prime Minister – support the industry that supports our economy.
