The TWU’s campaign for Safe Rates continues at Federal Parliament. The graveyard will travel around Australia over coming months.

The crosses are a sad symbol of those killed in truck crashes in the twelve months since the National Transport Commission criticised:

  • LOW RATES OF PAY
  • INCENTIVE-BASED PAYMENT METHODS (SUCH AS PER KILOMETRE OR PER TRIP)
  • UNPAID WORKING TIME AND DEMURRAGE
  • THE HYPER-COMPETITIVE NATURE OF THE INDUSTRY AND
  • THE LOW BARGAINING POWER FACED BY DRIVERS

ECONOMIC PRESSURE COSTS LIVES

The TWU will never forgo its responsibility to the public and its members to fight for a safer transport industry.
