    Updates on Truck Driver Contracts Termination by Hanson Construction Materials

    (2GB, 13 June 2013) Ray Hadley interviewed with TWU NSW Assistant State Secretary Michael Aird to update the NSW Industrial Relations Commission hearing into the termination of truck driver contracts by German company Hanson Construction Materials. The TWU had applied for an injunction. Michael says Hanson have committed to withdraw the termination notices, but that they are working to ensure the rates are sustainable, safe and fair.

The company is one of the largest construction companies in the world, are very profitable, and have a huge market share - the decision appears only to be driven by greed. Last year Hanson also applied to the Government for 170 positions, including truck drivers, on 457 visas.
