TWU UPS workers to ballot on protected action
Release date: 28/05/2012
After extensive consultation with Transport Workers’ Union UPS officials and delegates, our UPS members have asked us to proceed with an application for protected action ballot orders.
Since the announcement of the $6.4 billion merger of TNT Express with United Parcel Services (UPS) in March, the TWU has been negotiating to get the same conditions and terms of agreement for the entire workforce at the newly enlarged company.
Our members at UPS have instructed us to negotiate for job security, decent wage increases, similar terms of redundancy across the company and for existing TNT and UPS EBA’s to expire concurrently in December 2013.
Management has to date refused our reasonable demands on behalf of our members. As a result of this, we have now made an application to Fair Work Australia for protected action ballot orders.
