TWU to launch test case
Release date: 9/11/2009
The Transport Workers Union has today launched legal action against a trucking firm it claims is financially punishing drivers for the cost of vehicle accidents by deducting wages from employees involved in collisions.
Transport Workers Union said the policy needed to be overturned as the implications for all employees across Australia was severe, and if the policy was allowed to stand, all employees could suffer.
“This is the same as a bank blaming their employees if a computer or a chair breaks and then deducting their pay to pay for it. It is totally unreasonable," Mr Sheldon said.
