Hymix Workers To Take Protected Action In QLD
Release date: 30/01/2015
Transport Workers Union members at eight Hymix depots across South East Queensland will take protected action today in response to Hymix proposing a substandard Enterprise Bargaining Agreement for workers and their families.
TWU QLD MEDIA RELEASE, 30 January 2015
“Transport Workers are our first priority and we stand by our members at Hymix 100 per cent in their fight for a fair deal,” TWU QLD Secretary Peter Biagini said.
“Our members’ demands are reasonable and modest but they are willing to fight for them and the TWU backs them all the way.
“The company is offering a substandard pay rise for the next three years – and our members need a decent living wage to put food on the table, pay bills and keep up with the cost of living.
“Our members are also fighting for decent working conditions in their EBA including clauses which protect their job security and their right to a dignified retirement (superannuation).
“Our members’ living wage and job security are not negotiable for the workers, their families or the TWU.”
Transport workers at the following Hymix depots are taking protected action, with a 24 hour stoppage on Friday 30 January:
“If the company does not come back to the table to negotiate a better deal for our members and their families, protected action will continue,” Mr Biagini said.
Future stoppages have been approved from 48 hours right through to indefinite stoppages until a sustainable agreement is reached.
