HYMIX THREATENS TO LOCK OUT QLD WORKERS: COMPANY SAYS QLD WORKERS WORTH LESS

Release date: 11/02/2015

Hymix has threatened to lock out workers across South East Queensland for exercising their right to fight for a fair Enterprise Bargaining Agreement through protected action.

“The TWU stands by workers at Hymix in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast as they fight for a fair deal for their families,” TWU QLD Secretary Peter Biagini said.

“Hymix thinks QLD workers are worth less and is refusing to pay them the same as workers in NSW doing exactly the same job.

“Our members are simply excercising their right to fight for a fair EBA through the proper channels and we support our members 100 percent.”

Hymix threatened to lock workers out for the remainder of the week following the workers notifying of protected action with a two hour stoppage tomorrow.

“This is three days of wages for these workers who have to put food on the table for their families,” Mr Biagini said.

“This is an extreme, unreasonable and un Australian reaction from the company for these workers who are only trying to get a fair deal.

“We won’t put up with this in Queensland: QLD workers are worth as much as workers in NSW and we will fight alongside our members for a fair go.”
