Cashless Bus Call
Release date: 1/02/2016
Adelaide Advertiser, 1 February 2016
Assaults against two bus drivers and a ticket inspector last week have sparked union calls for Adelaide Metro buses to become cashless.
The Transport Workers Union said the three attacks including one in which a female driver was slammed against a window on Friday night - were all sparked by disputes about payment.
Union spokesman Ian Smith suggested metrocards be mandatory to avoid disputes over payment, as well as perspex barriers to protect drivers. The union will hold crisis talks this week.
