AUSTRALIA DESERVES A SAFE AND SECURE AVIATION INDUSTRY

For more than 100 years the Australian aviation industry has made us proud, safeguarded our national interest, and provided safe and secure jobs for generations of Australians.

Despite our proud aviation history and enviable safety record, the industry is threatened as never before by the agenda of militant, senior management, most notably at Qantas. They are determined to undercut their own workforce with outsourced insecure jobs and reduce the standards of safety and service, which the Australian travelling public deserve and expect.

Aviation workers and their families have refused to take these threats lying down. Over the past year, tens of thousands of union members across Australia’s aviation industry have united to fight for secure jobs with fair wages and conditions, safer Australian skies and a real future for Australian aviation industry which future generations continue to be proud of.

4-Hour Stoppages at Major Airports on Thursday October 13

The Transport Workers Union of Australia (TWU) today confirmed that Qantas ground crews would participate in work stoppages at all major airports tomorrow following further inaction by Qantas to resolve staff requests for job security clauses over the life of the next Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).
