In 2010 the TWU has continued its push for Safe Rates - taking 287 crosses across regional NSW representing the 287 people who died in heavy vehicle incidents on Australian roads last year. This campaign will continue across Australia to highlight the issues of pay and conditions, and their effect on safety in the road industry.

In 2009 the Transport Workers Union rolled into Canberra after a 2000 kilometre trip by TWU member Frank Black through regional NSW from Brisbane, highlighting the importance of a National system of safe rates for truck drivers.
