In a significant decision for TWU members at Virgin Blue, the company has withdrawn the initial draft EBA to re-consider their position.  Further discussions with the TWU will be convened within the next two weeks.

This decision is a significant result for all Virgin Blue employees who have had the courage to express their concerns with the proposed arrangements at TWU and Virgin Blue information sessions over the past three weeks.

Key concerns identitied by TWU members include:
  • no back pay
  • no wage increase for 2 years
  • changes to span of hours
  • changes to overtime provisions for part-times
  • new 12 hour shifts for part-times and full timers
  • companies one off productivity payment unclear
  • length of the agreement

The TWU congratulates all members and delegates who have participated so far and expressed their concerns over the proposed agreement. We will be taking these concerns to Virgin Blue and look forward to meeting with the company as soon as possible.
