The last meetings for this year were held on the 11th and 12th of December in Brisbane.
These meetings involved a more detailed discussion of both TWU member’s and Virgin Blue management’s claims on what should be included in a new EBA.
At this stage, there is still considerable difference between the position being put by TWU members and the position being put by Virgin Blue.
Below is a brief summary of these respective positions:
TWU Members claims
- Improved maternity leave provisions
- Back pay to 1st November, 2008
- Wage & Allowances Increases (5%+1%)
- Protections and improvements for TWU members job security
- A clearer and fairer classification system
Virgin Blue Claims
- A new starter rate of pay
- New rules for payment of overtime
- New span of work hours
- A new level classification structure

If an acceptable proposal cannot be achieved your TWU delegates and representatives will be seeking the views of all TWU members and Virgin Blue employees before considering any next steps.
