Responding to the company’s request for consideration of a 12 month wages pause and a roll-over of the existing agreement, your TWU delegates and representatives indicated that:
- A 1 year rollover agreement of all existing terms, conditions and work practices would be worth discussing further in the current environment;
- AAE’s management’s request for a wages pause would not be accepted by TWU members and that AAE would need to meet TWU members’ expectations of a fair wages outcome to be able to move forward
- In addition, your TWU representatives indicated that for any consideration of AAE’s position to be taken seriously it would need to include commitments in relation to:
- Resolving all outstanding issues
- Protecting and maintaining all existing TWU members terms, conditions and work practices for the duration of the agreement
- No compulsory redundancies for TWU members unless as an absolute last resort
- Future wage increases and a fair share of company profits going forward
The company responded they would consider the TWU’s position and would be in a position to respond at a further meeting to be held in Melbourne on Wednesday 20th of May.
